At Red Cheetah, we use technology to help make sure your business is running smoothly and securely. In fact, at the end of Q2 2009, we had no downtime for a full year. But if you are like most small companies, you likely also rely on other technologies to run your business day-to-day. How do make sure you're using those technologies appropriately and to their full potential?
According a midyear report of an online survey of small businesses called the IT Effectiveness Index, one quarter of small businesses are getting a D or F grade in regards to information technology. The report states that:
Small business are not observing best practices on measures such as:
* having enough qualified tech staff;
* good IT security to protect against hackers, and intrusions and other insecurities;
* disaster recovery preparations;
* downtime of your systems; and
* incident reporting and management.

Wondering how your business measures up? Luckily, the survey initiative is only half complete - it will be running through the end of 2009. You can take the survey now and see how your business scores. If you don't like what you see, zero in your problem areas and make the changes necessary to improve your practices.
Cheers!
